A network support specialist is a person who helps to set up network devices and get them running smoothly.

A network support specialist provides the technical support needed in planning, implementing, monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure, including the Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Multi-media networks. A network support specialist also provides network hardware system support and maintenance services for computer networks.
Tasks of a Network Support Specialist:
A network support specialist is indispensable for businesses today because it is his job to ensure constant internet connectivity at the workplace. He has to participate and coordinate all the LAN (Local Area Networks) and WAN (Wide Area Networks) infrastructure and maintain a project control plan. He has to take remedial action to improve network performance. He has to always be ready with a back-up plan so that if the WAN network (internet) fails, he is still in a position to provide support and keep things running.
The network support specialist also has the huge responsibility of performing and coordinating all cable installations, along with coordinating the project with the telecommunication companies for uninterrupted internet supply and other divisions of the respective company. For setting up the networks, the network support specialist has to coordinate the fiber optic cable installations and terminate various cables to ensure that the various electronic equipments are functioning optimally.
A network support specialist also has to provide network hardware system support by configuring and testing all wireless network equipments. He needs to define the parameters for installation and testing of LAN/WAN, CSU/DSUs, hubs, switches, multiplexors routers, controllers, and other related networking equipment.
Last but not the least, the network specialist has to prepare the specifications for the procurement of all the network related equipments and has to set standards and guidelines for the setting up and appropriation of the network and various other related devices.
